Intermediate Ventilation

We require either the Foundational Ventilation Course as a prerequisite or equivalent training/experience prior to taking this course.

Ventilated hairpieces are the ultimate accessory in the creation of a believable makeup. Take your Foundational Ventilation skills further by creating a goatee and eyebrow set.

Intermediate Ventilation Course topics include:

Goatee and eyebrows:

• Facial tracing/measuring for a goatee and eyebrows
• Stuffing the facial tracing on a beard block
• Building a goatee foundation
• Sewing with invisible thread/ventilating hook
• Directional techniques and density for goatees and eyebrows
• Styling with oven and marcel irons

Hair prep:

• Mixing colors on a hackle
• Weaving crepe hair on weaving sticks and creating curled hair on wooden dowels
• Permanently setting hair texture with pressurized steam
• Dyeing lace for darker skin tones

3X Academy Award-winning makeup artist Ve Neill will be on site along with Emmy Award-winning master ventilator and hairstylist Dawn Victoria Dudley.

LAB FEE ($200.00 non-refundable)

LMA will be providing all lab material needed in the classroom (covered by the lab fee). We will send you a materials list for the items needed/recommended outside of the lab materials. Students receive a professional discount at Frends Beauty on the items that they might need.

PARKING

Parking is limited in the area. It is more of a suburban environment, on Laurel Canyon Blvd. in Valley Village.

We do recommend Uber/Lyft or being dropped off if you can arrange it. Frends Beauty is a block away from the Orange Line Laurel Canyon stop, so public transportation is also a wonderful option.

HOUSING

LMA does not have any housing services set up yet, but Valley Village is a safe area in a wonderful part of the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles. It’s next to Toluca Lake, Burbank and Studio City. If you have any questions regarding housing or the area, please let us know and we’ll be happy to advise.
