Ready to take your watercolor practice further? Spend the day with natural history artist and Burke Museum Ornithology Collections Manager Madison Erin Mayfield, painting through a scientific illustration lens.
You'll warm up with observational sketching and work toward two finished watercolor paintings — seasonal summer flowers and a Blackburnian Warbler native to the eastern U.S. Madison will guide you through rendering specimens with technical accuracy while strengthening the observational skills that make any painting sharper. This workshop is best suited for artists with a regular drawing practice and some painting experience.
Your registration includes museum admission and all materials, though you're welcome to bring your own watercolors, brushes, and paper if you prefer working with your own supplies. The day includes a 30-minute lunch break. Ages 18 and up. Limited to 10 participants.
