In this 12 week intermediate course, you will broaden your improvisation toolbox with a mix of scene based work and short form games that deepen your storytelling, emotional truth, and character creation.
This course is intended for improvisers who already have stage experience and want to explore more nuance and theatricality in their scenes. You will work with a variety of formats, including open scenes that have no fixed rules or structure. Throughout the course you will strengthen your acting, enhance your presence, and learn how to create grounded and engaging scenes that resonate with audiences.
What you will learn
Creating believable and emotionally truthful characters
Building deeper and more dynamic relationships on stage
Playing short form games with intention, clarity, and character focus
Understanding story structure for layered and longer scenes
Performing open scenes that do not follow a predefined format
Working confidently with the audience, including taking suggestions and presenting formats
Strengthening presence, commitment, and boldness in performance
Preparing for a full public show as a group
Receiving clear and supportive feedback from your trainer

Who this course is for
This course is suitable for intermediate players. Ideally, you have completed at least two improv courses and have performed in at least one show. You feel comfortable on stage and want to challenge yourself with more detailed and emotionally connected scene work.

About Emma Holmes
Emma Holmes is an experienced teacher in Improv, Stand up Comedy, and Storytelling. She has a sharp eye for how to help you become a generous and supportive scene partner. With Emma, you will learn how to let humor arise naturally from the story, how to find the game without forcing jokes, and how to embrace playfulness even when stepping outside your comfort zone. You will also build presentation skills, active listening, and confidence in taking creative risks.
