On Monday morning, a large group of interfaith clergy from the Boulder metro area gathered to express our concern and prayer that we will all strive for peace, justice, and dignity for all the people in our communities. What came out of that conversation and our prayers was the organization of a Prayer Walk for Dignity and Justice this Thursday, January 29, from 3:00pm–5:00pm down Baseline in Boulder (more info below). I hope you can join me and the clergy from many congregations in Boulder, Longmont, Louisville, etc. Our scriptures on Sunday appeal to us to "do justice, to show mercy, and to walk humbly with our God" (Micah 6:8). We can also pray each day to be strengthened and formed by our baptismal vows (Book of Common Prayer, pg. 293):
–Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself?
–I will, with God's help.
–Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being?
–I will, with God's help.
More info on the The Prayer Walk for Dignity and Justice: We will be starting at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Boulder at 3:00pm and will make stops at several houses of worship as we walk down Baseline. (People may use the restrooms in those places and park at St. Andrew, Congregation Har Hashem, or anywhere along the route and join in. Those who can't walk those distances can make a basecamp at one of the congregations and join in the prayers and songs when we are at that location.)
Blessings and peace,
Rev. Beth Taylor
