About this Event
The Bible gives us a picture of how God's people, at the end of time, will be drawn from "every nation, tribe, people and language". This is possible because of Jesus reconciling us to God and to one another. The Church expresses this not just in words, but in a community life that embraces culturally diverse people. Our love and service of one another will be culturally informed, so this training raises our awareness of how to welcome and embrace people different to us.
We will consider the following questions: What is culture and how does it affect us? What is an intercultural church? How do differing values affect church life? What is a good attitude to have towards cultural differences?
Our hope is this training equips Christians to live out their calling as part of God's diverse church. And that our churches would increasingly reflect the diversity of our streets in a way that's deeper than just representation; showing love and honour to those different to ourselves.
Tim McMahon, originally from Australia but now based in the UK, works for SIM as their Mission Trainer.
