The Artists
🪵 Puppet Construction – Çağrı Yılmaz
Puppeteer, director, designer, playwright, and translator. She studied Philosophy at Middle East Technical University before pursuing puppetry through workshops with Czech masters Miroslav Trejtnar and Marek Bečka.
She is the founder of three companies: Ahşap Çerçeve Puppet Theatre, TRUP, and CagriYilmazPuppets. Her companies have toured internationally, presenting works in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. In addition to producing over 15 original performances, she has designed puppets and masks for national theatre and TV, translated key theatrical texts into Turkish, and led workshops on puppet-building, mask design, and cine manual. In 2024, she became a Berlin-based artist.
🕺 Puppet Manipulation – Georg Jenisch
Composer, visual artist, and puppeteer Georg Jenisch creates works that bridge music, theatre, and the visual arts into poetic, unified stage languages. Born in Salzburg in 1969, he began his career at the Salzburg Marionette Theatre, studied composition at Mozarteum Salzburg, and has directed both TAK-Vienna and the Berlin shadow theatre Figuren-Zirkel.
As a freelance artist in Berlin since 1999, his operas (Edward II, Dargelos Ritual, Medea Material) and commissioned puppet works (for the Orff Foundation, Munich Künstlerhaus, Schubert Theater Vienna) have received acclaim for their conceptual depth and atmospheric staging — including Oedipus Rex, Trionfi, Prometheus, and Picasso the Loving. His visual artistry extends into film, with figure sequences for international broadcasts (e.g., Shostakovich – Towards the Cool Morning with Armin Mueller-Stahl) and installation art, such as Time Layers and Messengers.
Since 2019, he has also been the founder and curator of Kunstblicke Jenisch, a Berlin-based gallery that hosts solo and group exhibitions focusing on spiritual, poetic, and spatial themes through paintings, cut paper, and sculptural works.
