In this four-session workshop series, we will explore how elements of performance and composition intersect with dance performance and contact improvisation. We’ll dive into key performance concepts like spatial awareness, timing, and stage presence, integrating them into contact improvisation practice.
Each session will focus on using contact improvisation in a performance context and exploring how performance elements can deepen the possibilities within contact improvisation. Participants will experiment with real-time composition, spatial dynamics, and the aesthetics of form and interaction, emphasizing connection, listening, and creative exploration in duet or group improvisations.
The final Sunday will feature a collective showing, where participants can invite friends or family to witness their process and discoveries.
Please come dressed in comfortable clothing, bring water for hydration, and knee pads if needed.
