About this Event
Yolanda Charles & guitarist Nick Linnik perform regularly with their vocal band Project pH & fusion line-up INSTRA_MENTALS.
The pair team up to moonlight as a duo and sometime trio for the love of playing the music that inspires their original material - guest drummers complete the trio line up.
Yolanda’s resume boasts that of a highly experienced musician with an enormously diverse list of artist collaborations and credits :Hans Zimmer, BB King, Mick Jagger ,Paul Weller, Squeeze, Robbie Williams, Dave Stewart, Queen, Lulu, Sinead O’Connor, Daryl Hall, Marcella Detroit, Pops Mohammed, Robbie Williams, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Somerville- from Top 40 Pop, soul, rock, jazz, studio recordings, film soundtracks, TV shows and from stadium tours to intimate jazz club engagements
She is one of the most well respected, in demand, creative and eclectic, multi genre talents working in music today.
Linnik has a reputation as a highly musical and technically gifted musician who is now becoming known as a producer, engineer-programmer. His 1st album written and recorded at the age of 22 was with metal trio Derek Trotson. Described as “a three-piece in the classic Rush or King's X mode but with a more experimental nature and chops to spare” the band, “a fearsome beast with an anarchic edge”, showcased young Linnik’s skill as an arranger and songwriter.
Joining Yolanda and Nick is phenomenal drummer Richard Spaven. A highly respected and innovative musician, he is well-known in the U.K. club and hip-hop scenes for combining machine-like accuracy with jazz-influenced improvisational sensibilities. Spaven’s drumming has landed him gigs with vastly varied artists such as UK rapper Loyle Carner, Guru of hip-hop duo Gang Starr, producer Flying Lotus, jazz/hip-hop vocalist José James and Brain feeder artist James zoo.
This is a rare chance to experience these musicians up close in The Nastri Room at Firs Farm Community Hub. This is a seated event. All tickets £17.50 in advance.
