Bio:
Sonia Mukherji is a poet, screenwriter, and columnist. Her poetry has been published and translated internationally in literary journals including Kitaab, Stylus, Shampoo Poetry Urhalphool, Kolkata’s The Little Magazine, Prothom Alo, the Dhaka Tribune, Bhorer Kagoj, and the J'aipur Journal. Her political pieces were published in the British journal PoliticsMeansPolitics, edited by policy advisor to Obama. She had a column in the Times of India chronicling her adventures as a South Asian woman living in New York. Her first screenplay Subhchintak (Well-wisher) was recently selected by the Oscar-qualifying, BAFTA-qualifying Rhode Island International Film Festival and was a Top 5 Finalist at Scriptapalooza out of 4,000 scripts. Sonia is a recipient of the Kundiman Poetry Fellowship at the University of Virginia. Recently she was appointed to serve in the Board of Trustees at Kundiman, the only national nonprofit literary organization that advocates for Asian Americans in the US.
