In August 2024, an Indiana State Historical Marker was installed near Copshaholm to honor J.D. Oliver, a leading industrialist of his time. As president of the Oliver Chilled Plow Works, J.D.’s marketing and financial acumen grew the plow business established by his father, James Oliver, into one of the largest in the world in the late 1800s. Curator of Copshaholm Skylar Whited chronicles J.D.’s accomplishments in her presentation. A tour of the mansion’s exterior, including a close-up view of the historical marker, will be offered. Admission is $3 or $1 for members. Reservations are required by September 30. Insights in History is sponsored by THK Law, LLP.
