Inside the Blacksmith Shop

During this workshop, see the blacksmith shop in action and learn more about this historic trade.
Join us for a workshop exploring our historic blacksmith shop. One of our volunteer blacksmiths, Paul, will demonstrate traditional blacksmithing techniques and introduce the tools of the trade. Participants will learn the important role a blacksmith shop played on a working ranch and how blacksmiths supported ranch life.
Also, participants will take part in a hands-on activity inspired by blacksmith branding. Instructors from Tandy Leather will guide attendees through stamping designs onto vegan leather. Create your own take-home piece while learning about the craft of marking and decoration.
If you’ve ever been curious about how a historic blacksmith shop worked and want to see it in action, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn more.
Recommended for ages 7 years and older. Space is limited. We hope you join us!
Rancho Los Alamitos is located within the gated community of Bixby Hill. The entry point is via the security gate at Anaheim Road and Palo Verde Avenue.
