About this Event
This is a two day weekend writing workshop that takes place 1:30 - 5:30 pm, Saturday & Sunday October 18 & 19 at the Inprint House, 1520 West Main Street, Houston 77006.
KAREN ZHENG, whose poetry has been featured in Benningham Review, Harbor Review, Honey Literary, Sine Theta Magazine, and elsewhere, will lead this class Emotion in Poetry: Forms and Techniques.
“Lyric,” “lyrical,” and “lyricism” are often used to describe contemporary poetry— in this workshop, we dive into what these terms can mean for our poems. The lyric poem can channel raw, personal emotion—feelings that resonate because they touch something universal in us. Whether it be the anxiety that comes with the arrival of dawn, the grogginess of a sleepy night, or the grief of loved one’s parting, we each carry the experience of these emotions in our own way.
