About this Event

Join us for this installation of the Inheritors of Memory Speaker Series as we enter our third season!

Elaine Peizer shares the Holocaust escape story of her mother, Suse Rosenstock. Elaine's mother was born in Worms, Germany in 1931. As the Nazis came to power in Germany, her parents arranged for Suse to escape Germany on a train full of unaccompanied children as part of a program to save children called the Kindertransport. The rest of her family stayed behind in Germany.

Leaving her family at age 8, Suse left for England in 1939. She was taken in by a family of the Christadelphian faith. She became a member of the Parry family and lived with them for the next 6 years.

Finally, in 1946, she was able to emigrate to the United States. Her mother, Flora and sister, Edith, survived the war and were reunited with her in 1947 in New York. Suse kept in touch with the Parry family in England and Elaine has continues this important connection.

Elaine lives in Seattle and is a recently retired certified Speech and Language Pathologist. Elaine and her husband, Alan, have traveled to view many of the locations associated with Suse's story. Elaine now tells this story to keep her mother's legacy of survival alive.
