About this Event
Japanese-born pianist Miki Yamanaka has called New York City home since 2012 and in the past decade has wasted no time establishing herself as one of the leading personalities of her generation on the piano and beyond. Yamanaka has gained international recognition from her albums as a leader; her most recent and most celebrated release, “Chance” (Cellar Music), features her NYC rhythm section, Tyrone Allen II and Jimmy Macbride.
For this very special Vancouver performance, Miki will be joined by her regular trio, and special guest Nicole Glover on tenor saxophone. Nicole is a current member of Christian McBride's Ursa Major, and is a core member of Rene Rosnes' Artemis project. She is widely considered to be among the greatest tenor saxophonists of her generation.
