About this Event

This infant massage workshop will occur one hour a week for three weeks. From toes to head, you will learn the various infant massage techniques. There are thousands of great reasons to massage your baby... from bonding, and communication to physical benefits as well, such as gas relief and muscle development Your baby will be happier and healthier having massage in their life.

May 1 - we will learn how to massage the legs and feet. We will also discuss the many benefits of infant massage. We will also learn how to help baby with gastric distress/colic.

May 8 - we will go over the day one strokes and learn how to massage the stomach , chest, arms and hands. We will discuss the states of being awake vs asleep and the in between ones too.

May 15 - our final day, we will go over all the strokes we have already learned and add on the face and the back. As a final discussion, I would like to really hear form our mamas on how you and your baby are benefitting or struggling with infant massage.

This workshop will be done via zoom, so from the comfort of your living space. We are always led by our babies, they will need to eat, sleep, poop, cry etc during this time. That is to be expected and we will just go with the flow. Infant massage is for babies ranging from brand new born to 12 months old. That being said.... I am finding that the ideal age is at least a couple weeks old (old enough to stay aways for more than a couple minutes) and pre ambulatory. Once your baby is moving it is near impossible to have them lay still and they get more distracted by technology as well. If you know how to massage them by then, you can get a minute here or there... it's just a tough time to learn.

If dad, grandma, grandpa, or another care taker wishes to particiapte, that is great too.

Between sessions, your homework will be to work on the strokes and gets your baby comfortable with massage. Homework can even be done at 3 in the morning when baby needs to be comforted.

I'm a postpartum doula who does days and overnights. I am very passionate about nurturing care for infants. Massage is a fantastic component of that.
