About this Event
ICN 5: Sahala
Presented by the UCLA Association of Indonesian Americans (AIA), ICN 5 is more than just a performance; it is an immersive cultural odyssey. Join us for an unforgettable evening as we celebrate our 5th annual production, blending the power of modern storytelling with the timeless beauty of Indonesian tradition.
The Experience
Arrive early for our pre-show cultural showcase featuring authentic Indonesian cuisine. Indulge in the bold flavors and spices of the archipelago while browsing cultural displays that set the stage for the night ahead.
Following the reception, step into the theater for a captivating original production. ICN 5 follows a rich, contemporary narrative that explores the complexities of identity, immigration, and belonging. This year’s story is brought to life by over 70 student performers and crew members through:
- Traditional & Modern Dance: From the intricate, synchronized movements of regional folk dances to high-energy contemporary choreography.
- Live Musical Performances: Experience the enchanting sounds of Indonesia, blending traditional instruments with modern arrangements.
- Immersive Scenery: Transportive set designs and authentic costumes that honor our heritage.
Our Mission
ICN 5 is a student-led production dedicated to providing a voice for the Indonesian community, an ethnic minority group often underrepresented in the arts. By attending, you are supporting a platform that empowers young Indonesian-Americans to take ownership of their narrative and elevate their culture on the main stage.
