About this Event
Born in Okinawa, Japan, *Jazzy Jazz Miyagi came to the United States on a full scholarship to the New England Conservatory of Music and never looked back. She continued her training at Berklee College of Music* and studied under Lois Schafer, piccoloist for the Boston Pops and Boston Symphony Orchestra under conductor Seiji Ozawa. That classical foundation runs through everything she does — but it's what she builds on top of it that makes her shows unforgettable.
Jazzy Jazz has worked as a studio musician for motion picture soundtracks and performed alongside *Miroslav Vitous (founding bassist of Weather Report), Mannheim Steamroller, Herbie Mann, Chaka Khan, and Joe Sample. Her talents extend beyond the flute to classical guitar, alternative flutes, and the ancient Japanese koto. She was chosen as a soloist for the grand opening of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts* and has appeared at the Carmel Jazz Fest and the Monterey Jazz Festival.
In Kansas City, she's a local favorite at the Green Lady Lounge, Nelson-Atkins Museum, and venues across 18th & Vine. Free admission and drink specials at Indigo Hour.
