About this Event
The Indigenous Futures Centre (IFC) welcomes members of the South-East Queensland Indigenous community, Indigenous staff, as well as Indigenous under and post-graduate students, or Indigenous visitors, to the March edition of the Seminar Series on Wednesday, 5 March from 1:00pm to 2:30pm.
This workshop format explores the distinctions between Indigenous ethical frameworks and institutional ethics policies. While many institutions emphasise procedural compliance, Indigenous ethical protocols prioritise relationality, kinship, and responsibilities to community and Country. In this seminar, Dr Shea Spearings will reflect on his experiences navigating these tensions. He will be offering insights into reclaiming Indigenous authority in ethical decision-making using a range of his own past and existing applications to institutional ethics, not limited to AITSIS, NHMRC and ARC.
This event will take place at The University of Queensland-Saint Lucia Campus, 01-W458 - Forgan Smith Building (West Wing), Collaborative Room. Interstate ECRs and HDRs can also access this event via Zoom: https://uqz.zoom.us/j/87554788387
By bringing together Indigenous knowledges and transdisciplinary approaches within and across the diverse spaces into which we work, the Indigenous Futures Seminars provide an excellent opportunity to network and promote an Indigenous research culture premised on community thrivance and transformation.
We look forward to seeing you there!
