About this Event
Stories shape the world. They challenge power, preserve truth, and help us imagine something better, especially in times when curiosity and the pursuit of knowledge start to feel criminal.
This year's Indie Bookstore Store Day, "Fight Fascism, Read Books" stands in unity with the stories that question the status quo.
Join us on Saturday, April 25 for a full day of radical joy, local stories, and the kind of subversive thinking that only an independent bookstore can provide. Enjoy community events, exclusive specials, and even a password-only Speakeasy.
Come for the books. Stay for the resistance.

Agenda
🕑: 10:00 AM - 10:15 AM
Kickoff: Stencil Station + Audiobook Walk Prep
Info: Customize your own shirt or bandana with literary, antifascist quotes before we set out on our Audiobook Walk. (Supplies provided while they last.)
🕑: 10:15 AM - 11:00 AM
Audiobook Walk
Info: Pop in your headphones and join us for a quiet act of community. We’ll walk together while listening to our own audiobooks. Includes a midwalk water break + optional stencil stop. Ends with a rapid-fire challenge: Pitch your audiobook to a stranger in 10 seconds.
🕑: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Story Time: Little Heroes, Big Voices
Info: We’ll read stories of brave young protagonists followed by a hands-on "hero-in-training" activity. It’s never too early to learn that one tiny person can make a really big difference.
🕑: 12:00 PM - 01:00 PM
History as a Warning: Local Stories of Resistance & Reckoning
Info: Local authors Cinelle Barnes and Herb Frazier discuss the power of history to illuminate, unsettle, and inspire. What can Charleston’s past teach us about where we’re headed and what we refuse to repeat?
Readers' Resistance Speakeasy
Info: When the sun begins to set, the real fun begins. Join us for an after-hours covert, cozy rebellion for those who believe reading is an act of resistance, with hidden messages (and discounts) waiting in the shelves. Entry granted only to those who know the password. Keep an eye out for the password to the ticket page! It’s hidden in the details for IBD and will show up when you least expect it in our emails and social posts (think: riddles, Easter eggs, and a little bit of mischief).
You’ll need it to unlock tickets and to get in the door.
