Explore the architecture, history, preservation, and tradition of select historic churches in and around Indianapolis’s Irvington neighborhood, including some decorated for the holidays.
The self-directed tour allows participants to go at their own pace, with church interiors open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST. Learn about the architectural features and history of each house of worship from representatives on site as you explore. Churches open for interior visitation include Downey Avenue Christian Church, Irvington Presbyterian Church, Irvington United Methodist Church, and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. We suggest planning at least 2 hours to enjoy the full experience.
Indiana Landmarks proudly presents this experience in partnership with area congregations. A portion of the proceeds benefit Indiana Landmarks’ Sacred Places Indiana program.
Advance tour tickets cost $20/adult (age 12 & up), $15/member of Indiana Landmarks, $10/child (ages 6-11), and are free to children ages 5 and under. Advance ticket holders may check in at any time at tour headquarters, Irvington Presbyterian Church, 55 Johnson Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219, to receive a tour program and map.
Day-of-tour tickets cost an additional $5 per ticket price and may be purchased at Irvington Presbyterian Church, beginning at 10 a.m. EST on December 7.
Tourgoers are responsible for their own transportation between stops. Ample parking is available in the lot at tour headquarters, Irvington Presbyterian Church. Parking is available at all other sites but may be limited. Street parking is available on most surrounding streets.
