Independent Bookstore Day is like our Super Bowl, our birthday, and our Christmas all rolled into one. It's our favorite excuse for a full-day literary party and we're all invited. This nationwide celebration, organized by the American Booksellers Association, brings party vibes to independent bookstores across the country, and we’re bringing it all in. Start your morning at 10am for swag bags with a $20 purchase, or aim high for a free blue tote bag with $100 purchase. We’ll also have prize drawings with our favorite staff pick baskets throughout the day and a lineup of popular new titles ready for discovery.
Make sure to come hungry: Neko Taiyaki will be parked outside 10am - 2pm serving Japanese stuffed waffles, and Koh & Lily Drink Co. rolls in 11am - 3pm with their mobile soda bar for custom fizzy creations, matcha, and lemonades.
It’s also launch day for the Michigan Book Hop, featuring 101 bookstores across the state! Pick up your passport, visit participating shops, fill in BINGO squares, and you could win gift cards (because road-tripping for books is always a good idea.)
We’ll close out the celebration with something meaningful: a Poetry and Protest workshop and open share circle led by Lexi Rose of Brave Space, creating room for reflection, expression, and community connection after a full day of bookish joy.
It’s a full day of shopping, snacks, prizes, road-trip planning, and community, which is exactly what Independent Bookstore Day at Bluestocking is meant to be.
RSVP on the website event to enter the Doorbuster Drawing - the first prize of the day!
