Families, food and care: From school lunchboxes to Pr*son visiting rooms.
Professor Vicki Harman's inaugural lecture will explore how families do and display care through food in various settings including the home, schools and prisons. She will demonstrate how paying attention to mundane food practices can illuminate social inequalities, power relations and family members’ agency, creativity and resistance to devaluation.
Admission is free but booking is essential.

About the speaker:
Vicki Harman is Professor of Sociology in the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Reading. She is passionate about understanding social identities, cultural practices and social inequalities.
