About this Event
After the death of her family in a terrorist bombing, Katja’s life falls apart. Her friends and extended family try to give her the support she needs, but the mind-numbing search for the perpetrators and reasons behind the senseless killing complicate Katja’s mourning. The trial against the two suspects, a young couple from the neo-Nazi scene, pushes Katja to the edge. She feels she has no alternative but to take action and seek justice herself.
The plot of In the Fade was inspired by an attack carried out by the neo-Nazi terror cell National Socialist Underground (NSU) in Cologne, Germany in 2004. It is an absorbing and nuanced drama about anger, xenophobia, and taking the law into one's own hands.
After the film, Anna Parkinson, Associate Professor in the Department of German at Northwestern University, will offer brief remarks about rising right-wing extremism in Germany today.
