BoSoma Dance Company presents "IN THE BALANCE," an evening of powerful contemporary dance directed by Katherine Hooper. This show is part of BDC’s 22nd Annual Season and features works by company dancer Cassie Laskowski and guest choreographers Ambere Rogers, Chantal Kelleher, Alyssa Sullivan, along with Hooper herself. Laskowski’s piece, Return , explores rediscovering your core self and the tension between order and chaos through a connected ensemble and voice-driven music. Rogers new work, "And I hold on", begins with the question ‘I ask you’—an open invitation to reflect on connection, belonging, and memory, offering not a single narrative but a space for the audience to bring their own experiences, longings, and discoveries into the work. Sullivan’s new work, "Influence" , looks at how positive, negative, and neutral forces shape our growth and life path. Kelleher’s choreography focuses on the emotional and physical challenges of motherhood, carrying others’ burdens, overstimulation, and personal growth, set to the dynamic sounds of Rhapsody in Blue Reimagined, by George Gershwin (Arr. Edmar Colón) SFCM Orchestra. Hooper’s, "Calm in the Chaos", reflects on staying grounded amid life’s unpredictability, showing how stress can both spark creativity and cause overwhelm, while reminding us to hold onto moments of meaning. The evening will also include "Women, NOW". (2025) by Stephanie Boisvert and "Matrescence" (2025) by Julia Sykes, both exploring themes of identity, transformation, and strength. The BoSoma Youth Company will kick off the show with their vibrant and impressive talent. Join us for a memorable night of movement, storytelling, and artistic expression as we explore life’s delicate balance on and off the stage. NOTE: Tickets are non-refundable.
