About this Event
East City Bookshop invites you to celebrate Galentine's Day by sipping and shopping with us to support VOW for Girls' Every Girl Deserves Happily Ever After campaign.
Note on Format: This is an in-person shopping night where 10% of purchases made throughout the evening will be directly donated to VOW for Girls. Registration is not required, but will help us get a sense of how many people to provide refreshments for.
Every three seconds, a child becomes a bride, robbing her of her future and choices—including her choice to be in a relationship with someone she loves. This global crisis impacts the futures of 12 million girls each year.
This February, to align with Galentine's and Valentine’s Day 2025, the romance fiction community is shining a spotlight on this important cause with the nonprofit VOW for Girls. As an industry that thrives by amplifying strong female voices, stories of love, choice, and the pursuit of a happily ever after, authors, readers, publishers, and bookstores are coming together to ensure girls everywhere have the power and life skills to say no to child marriage and yes to their very own happily ever after.
Come shop with us on 2/13 from 5-7 PM to help support this cause—10% of all purchases made during our Galentine's Shopping Night will be donated directly to VOW for Girls. As a woman-owned business and proud member of the Romance community, this is a campaign that we believe in and are enthusiastic to support! For more information about the Every Girl Deserves Happily Ever After campaign, check out the VOW for Girls website here.
Can't join us for Galentine's Day? Donate directly to VOW for Girls through our fundraising page here. Thanks to generous funders who support VOW’s operating costs, 100% of funds raised by the general public go directly to programs that help close the book on child marriage.
Accessibility Information: Built before the American Disabilities Act became law, the store's entrance and our larger downstairs space, including our event space, are not accessible by either an elevator or ramp.
