About this Event
Step in a sexy, moody evening seething with self-deprecation and lacy undies. An explosive collaboration with sad girl thespian Emma-Rose, iconic singer and writer Rachel Gagliardi of Pouty, and the delicious and impressive Cat’s Meow Cabaret dancers Lennon and Maka Moon.
“In Role of Girl” is a love letter to our twelve year old selves, and a massive middle finger to everyone else. It’s also a birthday
“I wonder if the moon ever wishes it was always full. Or at least always the same.
I am not the moon. I am a girl. A pitiful and brilliant oxymoron of a girl.”
BIOS
Pouty’s Rachel Gagliardi is OG. You might know her as half of the iconic grunge duo Slutever - or from her time spent in Upset (with members of Hole and Vivian Girls). This multi-hyphenate songstress has been performing as Pouty for the last decade - releasing cassette EPs of bedroom style grunge since 2016. Pouty formed alongside Japanese Breakfast during a song-a-day soundcloud project. Finally in 2024 the full-length debut, Forgot About Me, materialized. Based in the valley of Ojai, California, Pouty still records everything in Philadelphia. Over the years, she’s carved out a space that blends bratty punk instinct with emotional clarity, from early releases like Take Me to Honey Island to the reflective 2021 single “Bambina.” With “My Own Beauty,” she sharpens that voice even further—playful, biting, and entirely her own.
Emma-Rose Allen is a dancer, writer, and theatre maker from Ojai, CA. She studied choreography at UCLA and has a vast range of experience in all things moving-and-shaking, like filming pov commercials as an in-motion camera operator, movement directing for theater companies across Southern California, and now: putting on cabaret shows and doing her very best on the pole.
