Mental Health First Aid Training
Join us for an in-person Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training at Association House of Chicago! This course equips participants with the skills to identify, understand, and respond to mental health and substance use challenges. The training covers:
- Risk factors and warning signs of mental health concerns
- Key information on common disorders/conditions like depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, and substance use.
- A 5-step action plan for supporting someone in crisis and non-crisis situations
- Professional, peer, and self-help resources.
MHFA is evidence-based and nationally recognized for its effectiveness in increasing awareness, reducing stigma, and empowering individuals to provide support.
Whether you're an educator, healthcare worker, HR professional, community leader, or just someone who wants to make a difference, this training is for you!
Important Note on Sensitive Topics
Mental Health First Aid training covers important but sensitive topics, including substance use, suicide, self-harm, eating disorders, and mental health diagnoses. Our goal is to equip you with the tools to support others effectively while creating a safe, supportive environment for all participants.
We understand that these discussions may be triggering or distressing. Throughout the training, we encourage self-care and stepping away if needed. Your well-being is important to us. Please feel free to let the instructor know how we can best support you during the session.
