An interactive, two-part workshop packed with ways to understand and support teens who have ADHD and or Autism.
About this Event

An increasing number of teens are being diagnosed with ADHD and Autism and as the number of diagnoses increase so must our knowledge about these wonderful neurological differences. The common challenge is that while services can give a diagnosis, they don't have the resources or in-depth knowledge needed to support parents and teenagers in their day-day lives.

On the surface, parents may see their teen as not being able to manage or refusing school, having difficulty making friends, challenges around food, hygiene and clothing and emotional outbursts, but underneath are simple and easy to understand reasons for the behaviour, which can be managed and supported positively.

In this workshop, we're going to equip you with all the tools and knowledge you need to be able to confidently understand, talk about and support your teen's neurodivergent brain!

By the end of the workshop you will have learned:

  • Key vocabulary and language to use around ADHD and Autism.
  • Common areas of challenge for ADHD and Autistic teen brains and why these challenges happen.
  • Tools for supporting your teen to understand their own neurodiversity.
  • Ways of thinking about neurodiversity that will help you advocate for your teen and teach them to do the same.
  • Tools for managing the emotional dysregulation which often comes with ADHD and Autism.
  • Further resources and social profiles to follow to keep expanding your knowledge.

This workshop will take place over two weeks, so please make sure to write both dates into your calendar.

A simple lunch and refreshments will be provided in the workshop, but if you have allergies or intolerances, we advise you to bring your own.

Also have look at the other workshops in this series, as there may be other topics of interest to you and we'd love you to join us for as many as you can fit into your schedule!

If you have any further questions about this workshop, please email [email protected].
