About this Event
Parliament Unpacked: Reflections on Representation
What are the qualities that make an effective elected representative?
How do members of parliament represent their diverse communities and how do they get results for their constituents?
What are the challenges our elected representatives face and what are the rewards of being in the role?
Join us for this panel discussion with upper and lower house state members of parliament from across political parties, as well as independents, where we will explore the three-fold role of a member of parliament: representative, legislator and scrutineer of government.
Find out how members juggle the demands of their role:
- representing constituents and local community organisations from their electorates
- examining and speaking to bills and legislation
- participating in parliamentary committees
- managing their time when holding official positions such as Ministers or Shadow Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, Presiding Officers or Chair of Committee Chair.
When: Thursday 21 November 2024 5.30pm – 6.30pm (with extension to 6:45pm for questions if needed)
Where: Jubilee Room, NSW Parliament House
