About this Event
It's no secret that rental affordability has gone from challenging to impossible for many, and that renters in Sydney are facing some major challenges. Join us for a presentation that will look at 10 years of the Rental Affordability Index (RAI).
Produced annually by National Shelter and SGS Economics and Planning, the RAI is a key resource for tracking rental affordability across Australia, now with 10 years of rich data.
This year’s event will unveil the 2024 edition, presented by Ellen Witte (Principal and Partner, SGS) and Kishan Ratnam (Senior Associate, SGS), and feature insights from Trina Jones (NSW Rental Commissioner), Tom Loomes (Executive Director, Strategic Planning & Policy, NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure), Alison Holloway (Chief Executive Officer | Principal & Partner, SGS), John Engeler (CEO, Shelter NSW and Chair, National Shelter) and Estelle Grech (Planning Policy Manager, Committee for Sydney) on the evolution of the private rental market, its social and economic impacts, and policy solutions to help ease the housing affordability crisis moving forward.
