About this Event

In Person Event (Ajax Hub located at the Grandview Kids Ajax - The Jerry Coughlan Building 1461 Harwood Ave N, Ajax, On L1T 0R3). Participants will receive an up close, hands-on experience that provides critical insight into the world of dementia. This program is invaluable to people who are caring for a person with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia. When someone is diagnosed with dementia, it affects everyone: the family, friends, and professional caregivers. The Dementia Tour® Experience helps shed light on some of the responsive behaviours exhibited by individuals living with dementia. Please ensure you wear socks and closed toe footwear for this event.

What can I expect?

Participants go through the Tour individually. To register, you will select a ticket with a specific time slot . On arrival at your designated time you will be outfitted with gear that alters your senses (e.g., vision, hearing, touch) in order to experience some of the challenges faced by older people living with dementia. You will have an opportunity to reflect on and talk about your experience. Please allocate approximately 60 minutes for the Tour. If you are interested in doing the Tour as part of a small group, please contact the organizer.

There is plenty of parking at the Ajax Hub located at the Grandview Kids Ajax - The Jerry Coughlan Building 1461 Harwood Ave N, Ajax, On L1T 0R3. Upon arrival through the main entrance, you will be greeted by a member of our team.
