Please ensure you are able to attend the scheduled class time.Discover the ancient art of combining plant tannins and iron to create a permanent ink for painting on fabrics. Boiling cauldrons of plants cure our macabre painted designs in this 3 hour class and you’ll be guided through the entire process starting with an overview of ingredients and tools, making ink, sketching ideas, and painting your own item. We finish by curing our designs in a plant dye bath. Whether you choose to paint talismans, sacred symbols, or improvise, you’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind creation and the skills to continue the craft at home. All supplies are provided, including hand-sewn bags and wall hangings for you to paint. Teacher Leah, of Round Trip Goods, is a slow fashion designer and artist working with natural dyes and upcycled cotton.
