In Person and Virtual Peer Mentor Training

Are you a person affected by kidney disease living in Wales, over 18 years of age and would like to help others like you? This free training course will help learn how to provide advice, support and information to help others make informed decisions, come to terms with their situation and provide practical tips and advice along the way.

• The training will give you all the skills to become a Popham Peer Mentor & help others with kidney disease who are new to kidney disease, lonely, and/or need advice and support.
• The training takes place over two days either in-person or virtually.
• You will receive full support from the team and other volunteers who have completed the training.
• The training will give you access to all Peer Support volunteering opportunities including one to one support, group support, telephone support and others that may arise out of being a Volunteer Peer Mentor for the charity.
• You will receive an Agored Level 2 Qualification in Peer Mentor Skills that you can use to go onto level 3 Level 3 Access to Higher Education, Nursing or Social Work and Roles supporting adults at risk.
• You will be required to complete our volunteer application form, provide two referees (one of which will be someone from your renal team) and we will need to complete a DBS check.
