About this Event
Join us for a discussion and conversation about art and the role of culture in changing our day to day world. Functioning as an Independent multi-media artist and professor for over a decade, NARCY (Yassin) shares his ethos with us and the lessons of his journey to reflect on what we could look into building for a better future outside of industry confines of the arts.
We'll be at Café PaperHill, steps from the metro, where we'll have access to their beautiful terrasse — perfect timing for a Montreal summerish evening. A menu is available if you'd like to grab a bite after work or you can pre-order to avoid any hassle.
DOOR OPEN at 6:00 PM for mingling.
TALK begins at 7:00 PM.
Tickets INCLUDE A DRINK of your choice.
About Yassin: Yassin Alsalman, known as NARCY, is a multi-media artist, musician, academic, and author who has carved his own lane at the intersection of Hip-Hop and Arab Identity art. A Juno-nominated artist, he has collaborated with the likes of yasiin bey and Yo-Yo Ma, published books, co-owns Maktaba bookshop, and founded the transmedia collective WeAreTheMedium, all in service of one relentless pursuit: spreading the belief that independence is the new major and new systems are the future. About Apocalypse & Apéritifs: There's a lot to tackle in the world today — and somewhere between the outrage and the overwhelm, most of us still want to be part of making things better. Apocalypse & Aperitifs are evenings for exactly those people: a lively, come-as-you-are space where experts break things down in ways that actually make sense. A room full of curious people, a drink in hand, where it feels more like a conversation than a lecture. Each gathering explores the forces shaping our world, offering sharp insights and fresh perspectives so you can better understand the issues you care about, and start imagining how change could happen.
