Discover the Wisdom of Your Body in Relationship with Nature.
Curious about somatic practices and how they might transform your relationship with your body and the natural world?
This class will be a gentle approach to movement, removing the illusion of separateness from nature, drawing inspiration from mama Earth. Serena will guide you through different somatic dance scores so that you can freely move and find your inner artist- be curious, be creative, be playful. Open to all levels.
What to Expect
In this nurturing class, you'll:
- Experience gentle guided movement explorations that connect your body's wisdom with natural patterns and rhythms
- Discover how eco-somatics can help release built up tension (mental and physical) and soothe your nervous system
- reclaim joy, play, and inner child expression in a non high pressure and supportive environment
Wear comfortable clothes you can move freely in.
About your facilitator:
Serena Pickett is a Somatic Educator, dedicated to guiding people back home to their bodies through connection with land, movement, and breath.
She is a certified Yoga instructor and has a BA degree in Performing Arts and Social Justice in a concentration of dance with a minor in Environmental Studies from the University of San Francisco. Serena has over 10 years of dance expirence in ballet, improv, and modern & contemporary dance styles. She has learned from numerous dance companies such as Pilobolus Dance Company, Battery Dance Company, American Ballet Theater, Robert Moses Kin and has worked for Flyaway Productions and Epiphany Dance Theater. Her love for imporvisational dance came from learning Laban Analysis from her mentor Brenton Cheng. As a choreographer her work tends to center around environmental issues and striving for environmental justice.
Her teaching is highly intuitvie and she brings fluidity and grace to her classes with a unique artistic expression.Serena is most interested in reimagining spaces, creating new rooms for connection, compassion, and play. Her background in somatic movement allows for a variety of tools to help students discover and empower themselves to cultivate overall well-being and balance in their lives through holistic healing practices. Serena believes our bodies hold a unique roadmap for healing and strengthening through movement, breath, and awareness.
