Brazil’s musical traditions — samba, choro, candomblé, and many others — contain a deep vocabulary of rhythmic ideas that can open new doors for improvisers. In this workshop, we’ll explore how to draw from these rhythms to generate fresh melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic material in your solos.
All instruments are welcome. Whether you’re new to Brazilian music or already familiar with the styles, this session will help you translate rhythmic concepts into improvisational language you can use immediately.
