About this Event
Training Overview:
This 3-hour session will update your knowledge and skills to help you identify, provide motivational support, and refer your clients effectively. A very brief advice intervention can take less than two minutes to deliver but make a significant impact on health behaviour. Ideal for opportunistic health improvement interventions such as stop smoking, losing weight, or reducing their alcohol intake. It includes assessing readiness to make healthier behaviour change and supports discussion and appropriate referral.
What does the training cover?
· Support Provided by the Wellbeing Service
· Local and National Context
· How to ask individuals about their current smoking/weight/alcohol consumption and be able to act accordingly to their response
· Identify and advise what support is available so that you can refer clients who are ready for behaviour change
· The types of support and treatment options that are available locally in a suggested order of effectiveness
Who is the training suitable for?
The training is suitable for anyone who works in a public facing and/or healthcare setting and can briefly explore health topics with a client and give basic support or make referrals.

Info: Please can you arrive at 12.20pm i.e. 10 minutes prior to the training start time at the Civic Offices Reception, Guildhall Square. A Wellbeing Service team member will then accompany you to the Training Room.
