About this Event

NDB short course - Improvers

Are you a beekeeper with few colonies and some beekeeping experience, looking to sharpen your skills and deepen your knowledge? Thinking about taking the BBKA General Husbandry (GH) or Honey Bee Health (HBH) assessments in the near future?

This two-day NDB Improvers Course is designed specifically for beekeepers who have a few colonies and hold the BBKA Basic Certificate. It’s ideal for those seeking to improve their practical skills and prepare for higher-level BBKA assessments. (Please note: this is not a beginner’s course.)

Course Highlights

This comprehensive course blends theory with hands-on practical training, focusing on:

• Hygiene, disease, pests, and poisoning

• Products from the hive

• Swarming and swarm control

• Queen rearing and record keeping

• Colony manipulations

• Exam techniques and preparation

You will be taught by holders of the National Diploma in Beekeeping who are also Master Beekeepers and experienced GH and HBH assessors. For those looking to take these assessments the tutors will guide you on what is expected during the assessments and how to best prepare for success.
