Learning to listen to your body and improving your mobility are major keys in performance enhancement, injury prevention and
Why is mobility important?
Mobility, or the ability to move a joint through its full range of motion, plays a significant role in strength training and exercise performance. It affects how well you can perform the exercises, how much you can lift, and even how quickly you can recover.
Performance Enhancement.
Many strength and functional training exercises require a good deal of mobility. For example, to perform a proper squat, you need adequate hip, knee, and ankle mobility. Similarly, overhead exercises like the snatch or the overhead squat require good shoulder mobility. By improving your mobility, you can perform these exercises more effectively and efficiently, which can lead to better workout results.
Injury Prevention.
Good mobility can also help prevent injuries. When you have limited mobility, other parts of your body often have to compensate during exercises, which can lead to imbalances and injuries. For example, if you have limited hip mobility, you might compensate by rounding your back during a squat, which can lead to back injuries. By improving your mobility, you can ensure that each part of your body is doing its job, reducing the risk of injuries.
Improved Recovery.
Good mobility can also aid in recovery after workouts. When you have good mobility, your muscles can relax and recover more effectively. This can lead to less muscle soreness and stiffness after workouts, allowing you to recover faster and perform better in your next workout.
What to expect:
Be prepared to learn, move, lengthen and have some fun! You will learn simple mobility techniques that you will put into practice right away.
Brief anatomical overview and explanation
Active and experiential working through 3-step method of flexibility:
Flexibiltiy of Fascial Tissue
Flexibility of Neural Tissue
Flexibility of Muscular Tissue
At each step you will gain an understanding of how we are linked to each tissue type and explore what each feels like when it is tight and as it mobilises. You will leave this workshop feeling longer and lighter and with tools to implement into your ongoing training regime.
