About this Event

Patterns help us collaborate. Spontaneous group acceptance/collaboration impresses an audience more than individual cleverness. Pattern work rewards an audience for paying attention and enforces the idea that the show was made especially for them. In our third level, we explore creating patterns and discovering games to propel your scenes forward. You'll get out of your head and into the show by focusing on your team and what they need.

Dates: The class runs Sundays from 5/31/2026 to 7/19/2026, starting 5/31/2026 and running for 8 weeks. Note that a week may be skipped due to holidays or the Coalition's Second Best Fest comedy festival.

A showcase will be scheduled as an additional opportunity on an evening during the week of August 2nd (or potentially the week of July 27th, pending class availability and holiday scheduling).

Instructor: J McClain

J. McClain is a Native Virginian who studied theatre in North Carolina, grew into a Performance Artist in New York City and has been working with the Coalition for 4 years, currently performing with the house team Street Jelly and previously finishing their run on the house team Grandma Cat. They are excited to teach a class this semester and enjoying the play and laughter that will come!

Prerequisites: Improv 101 and 201, or equivalent classes at a comparable institution. Email [email protected] with questions.

Cost: $250 (Early Bird: $220)
