Discover the art and science of botanical fabric printing in this hands-on workshop designed for curious beginners and experienced makers alike. Led by textile artist Gina Wilde, participants will create one-of-a-kind prints on silk and linen using eco-printing techniques and plant-based materials.Throughout the two-day session, we’ll explore iron modifiers, non-toxic dyes, vinegar finishing, and steam processing to reveal the rich colors and intricate patterns that emerge from natural fibers and botanicals. An emphasis is placed on experimentation, comparison, and discovery rather than producing identical results, encouraging each participant to develop a deeper understanding of process and material transformation. Using non-toxic, accessible materials, this workshop offers meaningful engagement with chemistry, craft, and contemporary fiber practices through Gina Wilde's extensive experience with fiber and textiles. Participants will leave with both finished textile samples and a stronger grasp of the creative and scientific principles behind eco-printing. The workshop will conclude with an informal exhibition and reception in the museum on Sunday afternoon. Participants will have the opportunity to display their work, share their process with others, and reflect on what they’ve learned. Join us to explore the intersection of art, nature, and material science, where every print tells a unique story.
