At the beginning of the observance of the holy Season of Lent, we take a day to reflect upon the frailness and unpredictability of life. This is especially noteworthy as it informs us that we may not have “all the time in the world” to seek forgiveness from God and others, make changes, and rectify the errors of our ways. As a tangible reminder of this, we have ashes imposed upon our foreheads in the shape of the cross of Christ who saves us, with the words “remember that you are but dust, and to dust you shall return.”Whether you choose to keep the ashes on your forehead for the remainder of the day or wipe them off immediately is a matter of personal piety, but I hope you will consider joining us for Ash Wednesday services at noon and 7 p.m. February 22. The 7 p.m. service will be livestreamed on Facebook.
A vegetarian dinner will be served at 6 p.m. prior to the service.
