During the lecture, Prof. Artur Dubrawski will present a subjective yet practical perspective on the challenges that still limit the real-world impact of artificial intelligence. He will also discuss areas where students and early-career researchers can make a genuine difference by building AI that operates beyond the lab and changes people’s lives.
👨‍🏫 About the speaker:
Prof. Artur Dubrawski is the Alumni Research Professor of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University and Director of the Auton Lab, a large research group focused on building AI that works in the real world. With over 35 years of experience across academia and industry, Prof. Dubrawski has led projects in healthcare, defence, public safety, etc., wherever AI is not just theoretical and can be life-changing. He is passionate about mentoring the next generation of scientists and helping students turn cutting-edge research into practical impact.
The event will also feature Rachel Burcin, Global Programs Manager at the Robotics Institute (CMU), who will briefly introduce the Robotics Institute Summer Scholars (RISS) program - a prestigious summer research internship in robotics and AI for students from around the world.
