About this Event
Join Ivana for a 90-minute extended practice diving into the world of the Ashtanga Primary Series.
The Primary Series is one of yoga's most enduring set sequences - not because it's rigid, but because it works. Each posture builds on the last, each breath shapes the movement, and together they create something that feels both structured and alive.
In this class, we'll move through the series with attention to the classical Tristhana approach: posture, breath, and gaze - the three pillars that give Ashtanga its distinctive quality of focus.
Expect a guided journey through the Primary Series, with time given to the foundational actions that make the practice sustainable - bandhas, breath awareness, and the intelligent sequencing the series is built on. The session will be shaped by the group, so expect a practice that meets you where you are rather than racing through every posture.
We'll close with pranayama and a longer guided relaxation, so you leave feeling settled rather than spent. Whether you're new to Ashtanga or have practised it before, you'll leave with a clearer sense of how the system hangs together - and what it feels like to move through it with intention.
What we'll explore:
🌀 An immersion into the Ashtanga Primary Series
🌀 The Tristhana method — posture, breath, and gaze in practice
🌀 Bandha awareness and how it supports the whole practice
🌀 Pranayama and extended relaxation to close
Suitable for practitioners with some yoga experience. No prior Ashtanga background needed.
