Fire Island Modernist: Expanded Edition ventures beyond the first edition's backward glance to ask: how can we build for new climatic and social realities? Join architects Christopher Rawlins and Charles Renfro for a wide-ranging conversation, including a prototype house design by Christopher Rawlins.
Doors open at 4:30, with a talk from 5:00-6:00. A book signing for Fire Island Modernist: Expanded Edition will follow the talk. Hosted by Boffo.
Christopher Rawlins is the founder of Rawlins Design, an architecture and interiors firm with numerous residential projects underway in the Pines. Christopher is the author of Fire Island Modernist: Horace Giffford and the Architecture of Seduction and the founder of PinesModern.org.
Charles Renfro is a partner at Diller Scofidio + Renfro, a visionary practice whose New York projects include The High Line, The Shed, and the expansion of the Museum of Modern Art. Closer to the Pines, Charles lives in a smartly renovated Horace Gifford home, is currently at work on an AIDS Memorial, and wrote the new Afterword for Fire Island Modernist: Expanded Edition.
