About the Talk
Marking 100 years of quantum mechanics, this lecture explores how Quantum Optics and Nonlinear Optics have deepened our understanding of the quantum world and enabled transformative technologies.
Professor Ghosh will share highlights from her pioneering work on entangled photon sources and quantum memory protocols, showing how light-based approaches continue to shape quantum innovation. She also addresses the “dark side” of quantum tech—decoherence and security vulnerabilities—and outlines strategies to build more resilient quantum systems.
About the Speaker
Professor Rupamanjari Ghosh is a leading physicist and academic strategist whose career spans quantum research, institutional leadership, and national science policy.
She served two terms as Vice-Chancellor of Shiv Nadar University, led acclaimed Indo-French collaborations, and helped shape India’s National Quantum Mission. Her leadership is featured in UC Berkeley’s Career Journeys of Diverse Leaders (2024), and she currently serves on multiple advisory boards across India and the US.
Her accolades include the Stree Shakti Science Samman, CV Raman Lecture Award, and India’s Changemaker: Woman of the Year 2022.
