We have space for 3 more women to attend a Basic River Safety & Rescue course April 4th. Taught by ACA and ACC certified instructor Shatha Alanssari at Siloam Springs Kayak Park. The discounted rate for this group for the course will be $100 per person.Gypsy Camp & Canoe can host a much larger group of us the same weekend April 3-5! Open to all river lovers! Gypsy Camp has 7 electric sites with 30 AMP electric hookups (no water or septic hook ups). 13 primitive campsites are located on or near the Illinois river banks.

Campers can session the waves at Siloam Springs Kayak Park, WOKA, and run sections of the Illinois and float back to camp!
COURSE DETAILS
Level 3: River Safety and Rescue course is a 1-day (approx. 8-hour)
Class will meet at SSKP on April 4th
Workshop designed for beginner/recreational paddlers and trip leaders to master essential whitewater safety. It focuses on proactive accident prevention, self-rescue, and low-risk strategies for recovering swimmers and gear in Class II-III rivers.
Key Components of the L3 River Safety & Rescue Course:
River Reading & Hazards: Identification, avoidance, and managing risks like strainers and foot entrapments.
Self-Rescue: Defensive and aggressive swimming techniques in whitewater.
Assisted Rescue: Quick, low-risk methods for recovering swimmers and equipment.
Rope Systems: Basic, fast, and simple rescue rope deployment.
