About this Event
IHA x Zara Restaurant Fundraising Evening!
Raising funds for people fleeing conflict and persecution
Join us for a night of delicious food, stimulating discussion and heartwarming music for a good cause at Zara Restaurant.
This in-person event promises to be a fantastic opportunity to support a good cause while enjoying a memorable dining experience. The evening will start with a philosophical discussion around the concept of 'longing for home' facilitated by Miriam Cohen. This will be followed by a music performance featuring Katerina Clambaneva.
Our chosen charity partner for the event is IHA (InterEuropean Human Aid Association). IHA is a grassroots organisation which provides assistance to refugees in Northern Greece. Since 2018, IHA has been running an inclusive community centre in a small town called Lagadikia, near Thessaloniki. They offer language classes, an employment information centre, vocational training, skills-development workshops, and regular legal and medical clinics hosted by their network of partners. They also provide material support to refugees in the form of food, hygiene products, and clothes. Their material support programme is facilitated by IHA’s warehouse, located in Thessaloniki, which regularly provides essential supplies to thirteen refugee camps in northern Greece. You can find more information about IHA and its work at https://www.iha.help
Miriam Cohen has been teaching philosophy for almost 30 years. Having started her teaching life at the University of London, she left academia to bring thinking to people of all ages. Now working in primary, secondary and hospital schools, she is passionate about providing spaces for people to explore their ideas, and to engage in challenging and interesting conversations.
Katerina Clambaneva is a performing artist specializing in traditional and contemporary Greek music and performs internationally. She especially enjoys sharing songs that reflect the human condition in a way that can inspire healing. Having pondered on the meaning of home and identity, Katerina’s recent projects explore music about the refugee and immigrant experience and whilst these songs are mostly in Greek the feeling of homesickness and longing shared are universal. Find her new album on Spotify and iTunes.
Included in each ticket are delicious mixed mezzes, a glass of wine, and a glass of raki. Come together with friends and family to make a difference.
Mark your calendars and don't miss out on this special evening!
