The highly praised non-profit fundraiser dedicated to mental health is returning to Nanaimo.
Mark your calendars for September 14, 2024 when the Vancouver Island Conference Centre will once again undergo a remarkable transformation for an evening filled with exceptional local talent as we raise $100,000 for vulnerable and at-risk youth in Nanaimo!
With a creative touch, an incredible ensemble of
volunteer musicians, dancers, models, drag artists, and more, supported by local makeup artists, and hairstylists, will unite together in the spirit of giving back and IGNITING the spotlight on mental health.
Guests will converge for an unforgettable evening of cocktails, appetizers, entertainment, dancing and
more while experiencing heartfelt compassion, unparalleled entertainment and fun!
By the time Canadians reach 40 years of age, 50% will have directly encountered mental health during their lifetime. Mental health affects approximately 1.2 million of our children and youth. By age 25, that number rises to 7.5 million.
Embracing diversity, inclusion, and acceptance, Vancouver Island's most vibrant creative and diverse communities will unite, coming together with generosity and talent to give back from the heart.
Join us to raise funds and awareness in support
of mental health and vulnerable youth.

Nature and nurture, like intertwined roots of an ancient tree, shape our existence in a harmonious dance.
Nature offers our genetic essence,
the raw materials of our being,
while nurture molds and sculpts
us through care and guidance.
Together, they create the masterpiece of our lives, blending seamlessly
to form our humanity.

We should embrace both,
honouring our genetic heritage
and the nurturing bonds that shape us, finding the magic in the delicate balance of nature and nurture.

IGNITE2024 DONOR RECIPIENT:
Take a Hike empowers youth who experience vulnerability to change the trajectory of their lives with a full-time mental health and emotional
well-being program embedded in an alternate education classroom.
Take a Hike engages youth with intentional, continuous clinical counselling,
land-based learning, and community. Our public school district partners
provide high quality education, and together, we empower youth with
the skills and resilience they need to graduate high school, build healthy relationships, and achieve success – however they define it.
For too many young people, youth is a time of relentless uncertainty,
anxiety, and trepidation. Yet many don’t find stability or safety either
at home or at school. This is where Take a Hike works….
Our distinctive approach integrates the clinical therapy supports so critical
to their mental health and well- being, while immersing them in a
land-based program to learn self-empowerment and the capacity
to choose their own way along the path of life.
They may turn next to higher education or choose to embark on a meaningful
career path. Wherever the journey of their lives may take them,
Take A Hike leaves a powerful, positive impact—for them
and for our communities.
“I lost hope in the school system, I thought it was a lost cause. Coming to
Take a Hike gave me so much trust in school and gave me hope that some
people like me are able to get help. Take a Hike gave me purpose.”
