IGNITE 2026 Conference

The Community of Support 2026 IGNITE Conference is aimed to support students who are underrepresented in medicine and break down the barriers that exist for them to gain admission to medical school. This one day conference will allow Community of Support (COS) students to learn about the medical school application process, meet physicians and medical students, and learn how to craft their applications for medical school.

The conference will be in-person at the University of Toronto St. George campus, in the Medical Science Building at 1 King's College Circle. We will also be streaming the conference over Zoom, which will include every sessions with the exception of the break and breakout sessions. All aspects of the conference will be available for those who attend in person. Here is the schedule for the conference:

9 :30 - 10:00 am: Breakfast

10 - 10:05 am: Land Acknowledgements, Welcome Address and Schedule Outline

10:05 - 10:45 am: Preparing for the journey: Applying to Medical School

10:45 - 11:30 am: Medical school application (Preparing Application Essays/Personal Statements)

11:30 am - 12:15 pm: Medical school interview

12:15 - 1:15 pm: Break (includes mix and mingle between premedical and medical students)

1:15 pm - 2:15 pm: Breakout sessions (Financial Aid, Research Experience)

2:15 pm- 3:30 pm: Medical student panel Discussion

3:30 pm - 3:40 pm: Closing Remarks
